Cinema 4D

WEEK 1

Beginning with the basics, the first week required understanding the placement of objects and the use of short cut keys in order to become familiar with the a 3d models and views. We also worked on adding materials to shape our objects into life-like forms. We mostly familiarised  ourselves with the use of the software in order analyse our skills and limitations for the weeks to come. Below you can see the use of shortcut keys as well as the eye-man I created in week one..

WEEK 2

Continuing on from the previous week, we began to animate objects and add elements of lighting, movement through bending and twisting our shapes. The shapes were then moved through a timeline alongside a change in camera angels and view. I smoothed our my objects through increasing the segments and added a background and lighting to create a living environment, which was later rendered to the examples seen below. Unfortunately the rendering process came with its expected flaw of crashing which taught me to limit my animation slightly and save work as often as possible to avoid that from occurring

Attempt 1 (twist and bend)

Attempt 2 (Crashed)

Attempt 3 (POV view )

WEEK 3

I began working on concept design for my "Disappearing light" title. I chose to go for a comic approach and play with the literal meaning. A light bulb with human form playing hide and seek before being abducted by alien spaceship.  I began the  5 second animation began with drawing up the concept in 2d digitally before forming it in 3D. as seen below.

WEEK 4

To finalise the animation, I added the materials, background and animated the character subsequently , resulting in the final 5 second animation seen above. My partner and I then proceeded with adding a transition in between.
