THE COLOUR PROJECT.

WEEK 1

Myself and Raymond teamed up on this 5 week project. Our selected colours are black gold and blue. we've decided on a detective crime scene as the colours are very cinematic selection. The main character being  the victim of a crime scene. I created a moodboard for the project to get inspiration. I then created concept art to get a gyst of the colour pallet . we diverged from the colour pallet in the end as seen further below but it strikes inspiration for the moods that we were going for.

Storyboard

WEEK 2

I worked on my side of the storyboard as well as some shots that are included in Raymond's 20 seconds. as we were unaware of how to delegate our time . whilst initially we wanted to do jump back and forth , we realised are styles are far more different  and that it would make more sense to separate the the shots into two halves . The premises of the story follows a guy and his best friend set in the 1940's/1950s america going to a cinema. Whilst our main character is in awe with the love story his best friend is seen carelessly falling asleep as we get a hint into the hopeless romantic our main character is. The scene cuts to our main character in a bar having a drink as he notices a lady who's face shape shifts and becomes unrecognisable . The. best friend and guy leave the bar and our main character makes his way home. The series of shots following confuse the audience until the ending where our hopeless romantic jumps infront of the car for a lady only to be hit and killed . We find out its a setup when she gets picked up by the driver and the car runs the main character over, leaving the audience as the detectives of this crime to resolve

Character Design and Colours

I created the character designs of  the female and male . I created a turn around and used multiple combinations of our colour pallet . we arrived at the choice of the second colour pallet for the male and first colour pallet for the female. in this way we can use blue as the primary colour for the backgrounds.

Backgrounds

For my 20 second segment I created the backgrounds using photoshop and cinema 4D. I began by creating a moodboard inspiring the interior and exterior seen below then I began putting together the bar scene background using cinema 4d . I played around with perspective to come to the two shots seen below .For style we stuck to line art exclusively for the characters, to create a lucid dream feeling. Depth of feild was also used to blur background characters.

Animation clips

          FINAL ANIMATION

Credit : The story and concept was created by both myself and Raymond . I took the responsibility for the majority of pre-production whilst Raymond worked on most of post production , specially sound. Many clips were taken out due to tie constraints, as we were advised the film plot was more of a 2 minute film plot than a 40 second animation so in the future i think we will be more considerate to the time frame and avoid an ambitious plot point . I was still satisfied with the end product and our ability to complete the animation.
