       STORYBOARDING

WEEK 1

We got started with learning and understand shots from establishing to extreme closeups, and their significants to viewers . I chose lost in the woods as it was simple  to visualise and varied in settings and locations. I started off doing a character design as seen below but unfortunately it did not seem fitting, I believed  he was too larger for his given description  but I kept certain elements such as the his hair and face shape.

I  proceeded to breakdown the  script lines into three main elements: level of closeup, setting/location and character positioning, with matching references for each. this allowed me to clearly visualise the story before getting started.

I then used photoshop 24x14 cm frame to create my storyboard one frame at a time, putting in relevant arrows for movement which resulted in the final storyboard  seen below. you may notice a cane in style and further simplicity of elects such as background which make it simpler for viewers as we go along, this helped me establish a 'style' for my storyboard in week six

FINAL STORYBOARD

WEEK 2

During this week we went further into the study of film Directing, learning about camera angels and the 180 rule. it was a much more creative process than the week prior, given the following prompt from a book of 500 shortest stories, we interpreted the scene and directing how the imagery how we left necessary:

Evening Surprise:

Shimmering stockings stretched over shapely thighs- perfect backdrop for body- skimming cocktail dress. Glamour Radiated from the ends of the diamond earrings to the tips of spike heeled shoes. As shadowed eyes surveyed the mirrors reflection, painted lips pursed with pleasure. Suddenly a voice cries from behind. "dad?!"

My for this storyboard was similar to the one prior to it, I collected reference images for inspiration to aid me with visualising the environment and characters involved. For this storyboard however I also decided to write a script to breakdown the individual camera angels and set the scene. This made the pen to paper process much simpler, the script was took some minor alteration from the original to fit the ideal cinematic setup I found it to be below .

FINAL STORYBOARD

WEEK 3

The final brief is week 7 was about collecting all the knowledge gather from pre-production and our understand of storyboarding, 180 rule, shots and shot angels to finalise it with the element we will be using most with client work: animatics.

I chose the coming out audio as I felt that several comedic elements can be added, as well as slight tension and suspense between shots. I created some of the  illustrations on photoshop but i mostly used tv paint to assemble animatic.  I created the background seen below on cinema 4D and moved around the background in a speedy pace to reduce the render time. The shots required were then traced and the characters added finally
